DFDS are committed continuously reducing the environmental impacts of their operations and this is demonstrated by their target to reduce emissions from fuel use by 5% by 2017 and their commitment to fitting scrubbers to their ships.

DFDS aim to be good custodians of the marine environment in which they operate and have an established relationship with the marine conservation charity ORCA. Working with ORCA, DFDS have commissioned over 100 marine wildlife surveys, employed wildlife education officers on Newcastle to Amsterdam route, and developed an on-board Wildlife Centre on some of their ships.
